Healthier Snickers Bites
The viral candy bar hack, California Prunes style. Smashed date candy bars have had quite a run on social media, so naturally, we wondered: What happens when California Prunes get the same treatment?
Very good things.
These Smashed Prune Snickers Bites from Becky Sue Wilberding of Baking the Goods start with California Prunes pressed into chewy little rounds, then layered with creamy peanut butter, dark chocolate, chopped peanuts and flaky sea salt. The prunes bring natural sweetness and caramel-like notes to the base, while the peanut butter and chocolate deliver plenty of classic candy-bar satisfaction.

These Snickers Bites All the Texture, Without Much Effort
Part of the appeal of this recipe is the contrast. The chocolate sets into a crisp shell, the peanuts add crunch, the peanut butter stays creamy and the prune base remains pleasantly chewy.
And the method could hardly be simpler: melt the chocolate, smash the prunes, add the toppings and let everything chill. No baking, no candy thermometer, no complicated technique.

Make a Batch Now, Thank Yourself Later
These bites are especially handy because they store well. Keep them in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze them for up to two months. If you prefer a softer bite, just let them sit on the counter for a few minutes before eating.
You can also play with the formula. Almond butter, pistachio butter or sunflower seed butter can step in for peanut butter, while chopped almonds, pecans or pistachios can replace the peanuts.
The basic idea stays the same: chewy California Prunes, creamy nut butter and chocolate are a hard combination to argue with.
