Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie : Layered Smoothie Recipe!
If you love chocolate-covered strawberries, you’ll love this Layered Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie from Alison Needham! Of course, the chocolate-covered strawberry garnish is optional (but is it really?).
Healthy and delicious
This delicious and healthy smoothie has plenty of fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins to give you a healthy start to your day. Plus, prunes have potassium and vitamin K which help keep bones strong. Even better – this dreamy Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie tastes as good as it looks. If you’re a fan of dessert for breakfast (and who isn’t?) this is one healthy swap you can feel good about serving.
How to make a layered smoothie
Alison starts with a neutral smoothie base made of yogurt, bananas, prunes, flaxseeds and honey. Then, she divides the base in half.
For the strawberry smoothie she adds frozen strawberries, beet juice powder (extra nutrients + adds gorgeous color) and vanilla. Then, she blends the mixture until smooth.
For the chocolate smoothie she adds dark cocoa powder and ice and blends until smooth.
Now for the fun part – layering! The secret to a perfectly layered smoothie is making sure that the chocolate and strawberry smoothies are about the same consistency. Slowly pour a chocolate layer, then pour a strawberry layer slowly and gently on top of your chocolate layer. Repeat with another layer of chocolate, a final layer of strawberry, and then add a chocolate covered strawberry garnish.
The easiest way to make chocolate covered strawberries
The chocolate covered strawberry garnish is optional, but highly recommended. And since it’s so easy to make chocolate covered strawberries, why wouldn’t you?
Melt chocolate chips in the microwave for one minute.
Stir until smooth
Dip strawberries into the melted chocolate
Refrigerate until set
