About the California Prune Board
We Work Hand-in-Hand with California’s Prune Growers and Handlers
The California Prune Board (CPB) works to unite California’s diverse prune growers and handlers around activities that benefit the industry today and pave the way for its bright future. As we all know, California Prunes are the best in the world – and CPB serves the industry by helping to drive demand and premium value.
Our Mission
Unite growers and packers to drive essential activities that support the California Prune industry.
Our Purpose
Promote lifetime wellness through the enjoyment of California Prunes.
Our Strategic Priorities
Nutrition Research
With counsel from an advisory panel of nutrition experts, CPB invests in scientifically rigorous research on the nutrition and health benefits of California Prunes. As a result, more than 70 peer-reviewed, published studies have examined the nutrition and health benefits of California Prunes, including how they help support healthy digestion, gut health, bone health, heart health, weight management, and satiety.
Expanding Visibility
Using research for measurement and to identify positioning and value messages, the CPB communicates the differentiated benefits through marketing and communication programs in desired markets and target audiences. Activities and messaging are aimed at influencing top-of-mind awareness and perception around the delicious taste, versatility, health benefits, and premium quality of California Prunes.
Unifying the Industry
As a state marketing order supported by California Prune growers and handlers, CPB brings the industry together to determine shared priorities. CPB combines the hard-earned dollars entrusted to us to maximize their impact across the industry, providing a robust return on investment.
Trade Policy & Market Support
CPB ensures the California Prune industry has its voice heard in relevant public sector discussions. CPB staffers inform officials about issues, policies and programs that impact the California Prune industry, and we work to secure funding and growth opportunities through entities such as the United States Department of Agriculture and the Foreign Agriculture Service.
Production Research
CPB has funded research that furthers the industry’s competitive advantage by decreasing production costs, increasing value of prunes, improving worker safety, improving processing efficiency and championing Good Agricultural Practices while providing climate-smart production tools and resources.
